PhD in Administration

The Schulich School of Business PhD in Administration prepares candidates for research and teaching careers in management through four integrated phases: rigorous coursework, a comprehensive examination, a formal research proposal defence, and a doctoral dissertation. From the first term, students are encouraged to develop and refine their own research interests, with strong emphasis on presenting at conferences and publishing alongside faculty and fellow doctoral students. The program is full-time and typically spans four to six years; students must maintain full-time status for at least the first two years to remain eligible for funding. Admission requires a master's degree with a minimum B+ average in a related discipline, though exceptional candidates with a bachelor's degree may also be considered. A competitive GMAT or GRE score is expected as part of the application. Full-time studies begin each September.
