Overview
The Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language is offered by York University's Department of Languages, Literatures & Linguistics in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Portuguese is the fourth most spoken language in the world, the official language in nine countries and a working language of 12 international organizations. The related Portuguese & Luso-Brazilian Studies program covers the language, literature and culture of Portugal, Brazil and the wider Lusophone world. The certificate can be completed concurrently with a bachelor's degree at York, or, for applicants who already hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and are admissible under Faculty and University policies, as a stand-alone credential. It is offered on a part-time basis with intake in the Fall term.
