The PhD in Humanities is offered by York University's Graduate Program in Humanities in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. The program focuses on the different ways human cultures and their many forms of expression have developed, with specialization streams in comparative perspectives and cultural boundaries; religion, values and culture; and science, technology and culture. Students pursue advanced interdisciplinary research across the humanities, drawing on literature, philosophy, religious studies, cultural studies and related fields. A Graduate Diploma in Comparative Literature can be completed concurrently with the doctorate. Admission requires a minimum B+ average, a statement of research intention, a curriculum vitae, a sample of written work and three letters of recommendation. The program admits students for Fall entry only, and can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.
