The Graduate Program in Science and Technology Studies (STS) at York University offers training leading to both MA and PhD degrees. Research within the program applies the methods and theories of the social sciences, humanities, and cultural studies to contemporary and historical examinations of scientific knowledge and its governance. The PhD stream is admitted for Fall entry as a full-time or part-time program. The application file requires a research statement of up to 500 words and a writing sample of approximately 3,000 words, together with three letters of recommendation. Admission also requires a strong graduate-level academic record, expressed by the program as a minimum B+ average, and, for applicants whose first language is not English, one of the program's accepted English-language proficiency test scores.
