The First Year Engineering Core Program is the common foundation year of York University's Lassonde School of Engineering Bachelor of Engineering degrees. Students take a shared first-year curriculum spanning all Lassonde engineering disciplines before choosing a specialization, such as civil, electrical, mechanical, software or space engineering, to enter in second year; an optional Boost co-application allows students to lock in a specialization earlier. All Lassonde engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, and co-op is available and optional across every stream. The program is delivered on-campus at York's Keele Campus on a full-time or part-time basis, with new students admitted only in the Fall term. It gives entering students broad exposure to engineering fields before committing to a discipline-specific degree stream.
