The Master of Financial Accountability (MFAc) is built around four cornerstones: corporate ethics, regulative standards and legislative requirements, effective information systems, and transparency in reporting. It is described as the only program in Canada with a specialized focus in financial accountability, addressing issues such as the aftermath of the global financial crisis, climate change, cyber security and corruption. Students complete the degree through coursework only or coursework plus a major research paper, and may take on an optional paid or unpaid practicum placement to gain applied experience alongside their academic training. Full-time study runs four terms, with admission offered in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms. The program is offered through York University's Faculty of Graduate Studies and combines core accountability and governance coursework with practical experience options, preparing graduates for roles spanning financial oversight, regulation and corporate governance.
