BA/BS in Tölvunarfræði

Tölvunarfræði (computer science) is a three-year Bachelor of Science programme in the Department of Computer Science at Reykjavik University. It carries 180 ECTS credits and leads to the protected title tölvunarfræðingur. Exchange study is possible, but distance learning is not offered. The programme suits students who like finding new solutions and are creative and imaginative, with interests such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, mathematics, data or computer games. It stresses realistic projects. Courses follow a 12+3 pattern: each runs for 12 weeks and ends with assessment, followed by three weeks of practical courses. Students attend lectures and practical problem sessions, and recordings of lectures in many compulsory courses are available online. Teaching is partly in English. The final project is a group assignment carried out with a company. Each group meets its supervisor about once a week and has an examiner who follows progress during the 15-week project.
