Overview
The Associate of Science in Hospitality Management at Northern Caribbean University prepares students for the tourism and hospitality workplace. Core courses introduce the tourism industry and cover accounting, professional food preparation with a practical lab, front office and lodging operations, housekeeping, beverage, dining and banquet service, and the logistics of global tourism. Students also take beginning Spanish or French.
Practical experience is central. Each student documents 240 hours of tourism related work, including the hours for Practicum I, and candidates with deep industry experience can request a waiver of up to 120 of them. Students wear a uniform to classes and official university business, take part in the Tourism Action Club, complete Team Jamaica certification and First Aid and CPR training, and hold a valid Food Handlers Permit.
The programme totals 64 credits, with general education included.
