This programme builds the knowledge and skills needed to design and apply renewable energy sources and their control systems, alongside an understanding of relevant scientific developments and the surrounding business environment. Core subjects move from physics, mathematics and engineering thermodynamics through automatic control, electrical machines for renewable sources and energy systems electronics to electricity transmission, smart electric power systems, geothermal energy, heat and mass transfer and solar energy, closing with electric power economics, fuel cells and energy storage systems. A professional internship and a bachelor's final project complete the course, with specialisation options including biofuel and biomass and power transmission. Each module is assessed through an exam or other evaluation ahead of the final project and its defence. Graduates can identify and solve renewable-energy engineering problems, design and model renewable systems and their controls, and run experiments on electrical and thermal equipment.
