Overview
This programme prepares radiologic technologists to carry out radiology procedures and judge whether diagnostic images meet acceptable quality, while working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and continuing their professional development. Learning outcomes include understanding human anatomy and pathological processes, the technologies and equipment used in radiological procedures, and the effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation and the principles of radiation safety, as well as preparing patients and equipment for procedures according to diagnostic and treatment protocols. The 180-credit curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, pathology, microbiology, radiological safety, radiobiology, radiography, computed tomography, and nuclear medicine, together with forty-one credits of internships spanning patient care, X-ray diagnostics, and computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, and a final thesis. Optional credits allow further study in areas such as genetics, radiological pharmacology, magnetic resonance imaging, or radiotherapy for oncological disease, and teaching combines traditional and visiting lectures, laboratory work, case studies, and simulation models, with assessment through a cumulative ten-point system of interim scoring and examination.
