Overview
This Bachelor's programme combines English with German, giving students a grounding in two major languages of Europe. The emphasis falls on how each language is built and how linguistic phenomena connect. Students reach B2 level in German while continuing to improve their English. Reaching that level in a second language is a stated aim of the degree.
Studies include the ancient world, literature and the study of language, together with the societies, politics and cultures of German-speaking countries. Specialised modules extend linguistic knowledge, and elective and individual study subjects allow students to pursue topics that suit them.
Knowing two foreign languages develops linguistic and intercultural skills and opens varied career paths, since multilingual graduates are in demand on the labour market, and the programme gives them a double advantage.
