This Master's programme in Bioinformatics is taught in English and run by the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University together with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. This entry is the Biology track of a new study programme that links computer science with the life sciences.
Teaching covers the analysis of biological data with computational methods, building software tools, and tackling hard biological questions with bioinformatics together with machine learning and AI methods. In the first semester students reinforce their grounding in biology or computer science according to their earlier studies. The second semester addresses machine learning and omics data analysis alongside a project inside a research team or firm, and the third adds phylogenetics, structural bioinformatics and a second project. The fourth semester is reserved for writing and defending the Master's thesis.
More than 30 electives are available across several university faculties.
