MA/MS in Media Studies: Digital Cultures

Media Studies: Digital Cultures examines how digital media, including artificial intelligence and algorithm-driven platforms, continuously shape how people live, work and connect, covering both the spread of disinformation and the transformative potential of extended reality as examples of the social change and challenges digital media bring. The one-year programme combines critical and creative engagement with digital cultures and media technologies to train reflective, resilient media professionals and researchers oriented toward inclusive and sustainable digital cultures. Topics examined include the ethical challenges of generative artificial intelligence, how digitalisation affects experiences of reality, the role that platforms and social media play in shaping politics, identity and culture, how digital creativity can open fresh forms of artistic expression, activism and community-building, how innovation and responsibility can be weighed against each other in a world shaped by algorithms and big data, and how 3D modelling can inspire new digital storytelling and heritage formation.
