MA/MS in Heritage Studies: Curating Art and Cultures

This two-year programme is offered jointly by the University of Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam, and museums and cultural institutions in the Netherlands, spanning both lecture-hall teaching and work in the exhibition space to prepare students for work as curators. It strengthens disciplinary and theoretical foundations alongside research skills and practical experience, engaging with theoretical concepts and contemporary issues around how art objects and cultural artefacts are collected and displayed, and culminates in a Master's thesis. A year-long curatorial internship at a partner museum or cultural institution provides hands-on training spanning museum practice, from research for publications through to organising exhibitions.
