Overview
Dhofar University has offered its four-year, English-medium BSc in Civil Engineering since 2010. It readies students for professional practice, further study and lifelong learning, building competence in mathematics, basic and engineering sciences, design, communication and laboratory work.
Students study the main branches of the discipline: structures, geotechnics, transport, environmental engineering, hydrology and water resources, construction materials and construction management. Laboratories and active learning approaches support this, and the curriculum is benchmarked internationally to meet the needs of infrastructure and the built environment in Oman and elsewhere.
Graduates can work in consulting, contracting, site supervision, public works, transport, water and environmental services, and infrastructure development. Entry requires a General Education Diploma or equivalent with Pure Mathematics and two science subjects, plus a pass in a recognised foundation programme. Graduation requires an eight-week internship and a final-year project.
