Diploma in English Language

Dhofar University's two-year Diploma in English Language is run by the Department of Languages and Translation. It is aimed at students who want to use English confidently for everyday, academic and workplace communication, and it combines language-focused courses with practicum components that put the language to practical use. Major courses cover English grammar, literature, linguistics, English sounds and poetry, and students choose one elective from options that include language studies, the psychology of language and Shakespeare. The wider curriculum adds university and college courses in Arabic academic writing, technical computing for the arts, world civilizations, Omani society and electives in the natural and social sciences. Students complete 60 credit hours and need a minimum overall average of 65 percent to graduate.
