Overview

The PhD in Business (Finance) at SMU focuses on advanced finance study, supported by economics, statistics and quantitative methods of research. Study is full-time, begins in August and usually takes 4 years, with a single admission round each year. Entry requires a bachelor's degree awarded by an accredited institution; no master's degree is needed. Because admission happens only once a year, applicants plan for the August start. The programme also gives master's students a base from which to prepare for specialisation. The programme website has dedicated sections on structure and curriculum, admissions, fees and scholarships, student research, publications, alumni and faculty.
