Master of Data Science in Economics

The MDSE programme sits in SMU's School of Economics and teaches students to analyse economic questions with the help of artificial intelligence, machine learning and econometrics. It is described as a multidisciplinary programme with a focus on industry relevance and practical learning. Students work in Python, SQL and R and learn to query, analyse and model large economic datasets using distributed computing across in-house servers and cloud clusters. Study takes 18 months full-time or 30 months part-time, with the option of finishing in 12 or 24 months respectively. Intakes are in August and January, and terms follow a regular 10-week pattern, with optional 5-week terms in November and July. The listed tuition is S$54,500 including GST.
