Diploma in Maritime Business

The Diploma in Maritime Business suits students who are interested in how the shipping and maritime world works and who like strategic, analytical and team-based tasks. Learning combines hands-on training, case studies, field visits and industry engagement, and students use facilities such as the Maritime Business Centre and its Maritime IT Laboratory. Coursework examines the freight transport network and how its parts fit together. Modules include Financial Management in Shipping, which covers ship financing and the sale and purchase of ships, including documents, law and valuation. A shore-based internship of six months places students with maritime or logistics firms, where they apply their studies and keep a project log book. The school's collaborations give graduates routes into direct entry at local and international universities. Elective modules can be grouped into one of six minors.
