Building Surveying

Building surveying covers the development, management, conservation and maintenance of buildings across the property sector. This degree builds the scientific, technical and business skills needed for this work, alongside a clear understanding of sustainable development and its role in the industry. Students use professional software, including building information modelling, and take part in excursions to working sites and in live-brief projects shared with peers from related courses. These activities reflect the working environment of the profession and help learners prepare for employment. The RICS and the CABE accredit the course, which confirms its relevance to professional practice. A placement year and part-time study are both available, and mature applicants with built environment experience are welcome, subject to RICS requirements. Graduates leave with a well-rounded understanding of how buildings are managed over their whole life.
