Adelphi's postdoctoral fellowship is aimed at psychologists who have finished their doctorates and need supervised hours before applying for a New York license. Fellows pick one of two clinical tracks: work with adults grounded in psychoanalytic thinking, or work with young people and their families.
The role is part-time and spans two years. Each fellow treats a few psychotherapy clients, meets weekly for individual supervision and monthly in a group, and sits in on postgraduate coursework at no tuition cost. Fellows also teach a pair of courses every semester for the undergraduate psychology department or the mental health counseling master's, earning the standard adjunct wage.
Everything done during the fellowship counts toward state licensing and toward certificates offered by the university. Candidates need an accredited internship behind them, a clinical, counseling or school psychology doctorate, and a temporary practice permit.
