This doctorate, titled PhD in Applied Economics, is a joint effort of three units: economics, rural sociology paired with agricultural economics, and the forestry, wildlife and environment college. The version described here is hosted in economics, a department that also has a master's program.
Entry requires a bachelor's or comparable degree, 18 or more semester hours in economics, and a calculus sequence. Applicants must take the GRE General Test and reach 153 verbal and 148 quantitative.
The Graduate School's web application collects GRE results, undergraduate transcripts, TOEFL scores for applicants from abroad, three references and a statement of purpose. Evaluators look at academic record, test performance and recommendations. Funding and application decisions are handled through the department and the Graduate School, so applicants should follow the posted instructions closely.
