Cert in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technologies/Technicians

Aimed at people preparing to work in electronics and electrical trades, this program of study covers specialized occupational skills. A prior certificate in Electricity Fundamentals 2 is recommended. Learners study binary, hexadecimal, and octal counting systems, create logic solutions for motor control, and learn how digital signals travel through communication systems. They also build control applications with programmable logic controller software and tune instrumentation circuits by reading piping and instrumentation diagrams. The published program map lays out one possible route through the required courses and is offered for reference only. Students are asked to meet with a counselor to build a personal education plan. Each course entry in the catalog lists its description, any prerequisites or advisories, and the general education or transfer areas it satisfies. Transfer plans deserve a counselor conversation too, because every university sets its own course requirements.
