AA/AS in Engineering, General

Intended as foundational coursework for a civil engineering career, this degree readies students for engineering internships and for transfer into four-year engineering programs. Students use math, science, engineering, and technology on broadly framed problems and design processes and components that satisfy stated needs. They also practice communicating through writing, speaking, and drawings, and learn to find and use technical sources responsibly. The published program map lays out one possible route through the required courses and is offered for reference only. Students are asked to meet with a counselor to build a personal education plan. Each course entry in the catalog lists its description, any prerequisites or advisories, and the general education or transfer areas it satisfies. Transfer plans deserve a counselor conversation too, because every university sets its own course requirements.
