Program details

Overview

Mechanical engineering is one concentration inside Montgomery College's engineering science associate of science. Mechanical engineers create machines built from many connected moving parts, along with the engines and motors that power them, and many work in climate control, automotive, industrial or manufacturing settings. Students develop the ability to approach introductory physics and engineering questions about forces, motion and energy, to evaluate and plan simple mechanical systems using analytical techniques, and to use software suited to the field. The sequence begins with English and math foundations and adds calculus, chemistry, physics, statics, dynamics, MATLAB and computer-aided design. An advising guide and a sample plan for full-time enrollment help students prepare for transfer.
