AA/AS in Civil Engineering Technologies/Technicians

Civil engineering is one concentration inside Montgomery College's engineering science associate of science. Practitioners in this branch plan major built works such as dams, bridges and transport networks, and also handle water flow, pollution abatement and land surveying. Students are prepared to tackle introductory physics and engineering questions about how structures carry loads, to plan and evaluate modest structures with both analytical and numerical techniques, and to apply programming and software tools to civil engineering tasks. The curriculum opens with English and math foundations and moves through calculus, chemistry, physics and engineering design. An advising guide and a sample semester-by-semester plan are provided, and advisers help students prepare for transfer to four-year engineering programs.
