AA/AS in Sociology

Sociology at Moorpark College is an associate degree for transfer, built for students who want to continue to a California State University campus. Students use the sociological perspective to understand social groups, institutions and patterns of human behavior. The degree suits future sociology majors as well as those who want a general understanding of social life. Students complete transferable units, the Cal-GETC general education pattern and the listed major courses, earning a C or better in each. Finishing the degree assures a place somewhere in the CSU system, though it does not promise a particular campus or major. The catalog lists every required and elective course for the current academic year. Moorpark College counselors can help students choose a sequence, track progress toward the award and plan any move to another institution or into the workforce. Prospective students should read the program page for current details before enrolling, since requirements can change between catalog years and course availability varies by term.
