AA/AS in Sociology

The Sociology Associate in Arts for Transfer provides core coursework in sociological content, theory and method. It helps students meet general education and transfer requirements for an upper-level sociology program. The coursework builds the habits and know-how of working sociologists. Graduates of this transfer degree are assured a place somewhere in the CSU system, though not at a chosen campus or in a chosen major, so planning with a counselor matters. Students need a 2.0 GPA or better across CSU-transferable courses. In the college catalog this program is listed as eligible for financial aid. Orange Coast College publishes the requirements in its 2026-2027 academic catalog, which sets out the required courses, the intended learning outcomes and a suggested sequence of study. A counselor can help each student map out the semesters.
