Cert in Social Work

Aimed at employees and volunteer leaders, this short certificate supplies a working foundation for human service agencies and nonprofit groups. It stresses communication, the study of social problems, and knowledge of how the social welfare system operates. Students get an early look at career paths in social work, in mental health, and in substance dependency treatment. Learners build policy practice abilities that support social responsibility and dedication to service. Courses also shape ethics, attitudes, and conduct appropriate to client work, and students learn about the systems surrounding clients so they can manage referrals and link people with services. The certificate fits both those currently employed in human services and newcomers hoping to join it. Finishing the certificate makes students eligible to start on the credential for Chemical Dependency Counseling Assistants, at its initial stage.
