Program details

Overview

Chemistry spans the organic, inorganic, physical, biological and analytical branches through lectures, seminars and laboratory-style classes, and students choose among four degree options built around their interests. The curriculum can be shaped as a B.A. or a B.S., with tracks such as medicinal and biological chemistry. Laboratory courses at both beginning and advanced levels use research-grade instruments, and weekly seminars bring guest professors from other countries to discuss recent advances. Students can attend orientation events for chemistry majors, join the student chapter of a professional chemistry society, and earn special distinction by keeping a strong GPA, doing research and writing a senior thesis. Graduates have gone on to industry employers such as Pfizer, Merck, Moderna and Regeneron, or to graduate and medical study at schools including Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Yale and Syracuse itself.
