MA/MS in Landscape Architecture

The Master of Landscape Architecture at WashU is a research-led program with an ecological focus. Students tackle large environmental challenges through design projects, group work, and research assistantships that reflect real conditions in St. Louis, the Mississippi watershed, and beyond. Studies concentrate on rivers and water-based adaptation, networks across cities and ecosystems, justice in environmental and social terms, storms and a changing climate, plus engagement with communities. Students choose between a longer track for people holding a bachelor's in any subject and a shorter accelerated track for those who already studied architecture or landscape architecture. Summer study abroad opportunities are offered on the longer track, and dual degrees with architecture or urban design are possible. The program holds national landscape architecture accreditation and a STEM designation. Support includes tuition scholarships, fellowships, paid assistantships, and loans, and the school lists career paths for graduates.
