Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College is a Baptist theological institution in Toronto, Ontario, founded in 1927 out of Jarvis Street Baptist Church and long associated with pastor T.T.
Shields. Its legal right to confer theological degrees was affirmed by a private Act of the Ontario Legislature (Bill PR44) in 1982.
The Seminary is accredited by the Association of Reformed Theological Seminaries (ARTS), a CHEA-recognized accrediting body, to grant degrees at the Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master's levels, and it confers its own degrees under that authority. It maintains ties to the Sovereign Grace Baptist Churches in Canada, the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, and Korean Baptist congregations in Canada.
On its single Toronto campus, TBS trains pastors, church planters, and lay leaders through a curriculum grounded in biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew), systematic theology, church history, hermeneutics, and pastoral ministry.
Programs range from one- and two-year Bible diplomas through Bachelor of Theological Studies and Bachelor of Theology degrees, up to graduate-level Certificate, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Divinity, and Master of Theology credentials, each combining classroom study with supervised field work and mentored ministry practicuMs. Graduates serve in churches and missions across Canada and more than thirty countries.
