The University of Hull is a public university on Cottingham Road in Hull, in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England.
It traces its roots to 1927, when it opened as University College Hull with support from local philanthropist Thomas Ferens, and gained its own Royal Charter as a full university in 1954, making it the 14th oldest university in England. Teaching is organised across four faculties: Arts, Social Sciences and Education; Health Sciences (home to the Hull York Medical School partnership); Science and Engineering; and the Hull University Business School.
The university holds a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and is known for research strengths in renewable energy, flood resilience, palliative and wound care, and mental health, alongside its long-running work in medicine, business and the sciences.
