This two-year Practical Nursing diploma program prepares graduates to meet the entry-level competencies set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) and to become eligible to apply for licensure as a Practical Nurse in the province. The curriculum combines theoretical coursework in areas such as anatomy, physiology and medical microbiology with nursing fundamentals, clinical assessment, pharmacology and pathophysiology, mental health and substance use nursing, maternity, newborn and pediatric nursing, community and palliative care, and professional leadership. Clinical practicum placements run throughout the program, ranging from short observational experiences to a senior practicum of several hundred hours, in settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, community health programs and mental health agencies. Instruction is delivered on campus, with mandatory in-person clinical placements and no distance-delivery option, at multiple Manitoba locations. The program suits candidates with strong interpersonal communication and critical-thinking skills who are prepared to work across varying shift schedules in healthcare settings.

Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply directly to Assiniboine College; most programs carry no fixed application deadline and are assessed first-complete, first-served, though competitive-entry programs such as Practical Nursing require a supplemental application and, for Nursing, a CASPer assessment. International applicants may apply up to one year before a program's start date; the college publishes no fixed international deadline, but says many programs form waitlists well ahead of the start date, so early application is encouraged. Admission is effectively rolling: applications are accepted until a program's seats and waitlist are full rather than against a calendar cut-off. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
