Early Childhood Education and Development Certificate

The Early Childhood Education and Development Certificate prepares students to support children and families through practices grounded in current research and early-childhood theory, using Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework as its foundation. The programme includes two practicum placements that provide direct experience in early-learning settings, alongside coursework covering child development, curriculum planning, and family engagement. Delivery combines online coursework, offered evenings and weekends, with in-person practicums completed on weekdays across Calgary and surrounding areas; students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to placement sites. The certificate can be completed full-time or part-time and spans two terms. Graduates are eligible for Level 2 Early Childhood Educator certification from the Government of Alberta, qualifying them to work in licensed child-care settings.
