Psychiatric Nurse Diploma

Bow Valley College's Psychiatric Nurse Diploma is a four-term pathway program that enables eligible Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with significant work experience to build the advanced competencies needed to become a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN). Coursework focuses on in-depth mental health knowledge, refined clinical skills, and extensive supervised experience in psychiatric nursing practice, building on the applicant's existing practical nursing background. The program is designed specifically for practising LPNs rather than new entrants to nursing, allowing them to transition into the regulated psychiatric nursing profession in Alberta. Graduates are prepared to pursue registration as Registered Psychiatric Nurses, expanding their scope of practice into mental health and psychiatric care settings. The program is offered to domestic applicants only and is not open to international students.
