Overview
The Bachelor of Science Combined Honours in Biochemistry and Forensic Science is a joint program between BCIT and the University of British Columbia (UBC). By the time you graduate, you'll demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, and forensic science, including the main principles, techniques, and latest developments. Additionally, you'll be able to perform a variety of relevant laboratory procedures have the option to complete a co-op experience. Upon graduation, you'll be able to continue on to further education or work in a variety of fields, including in government or private laboratories.

Admission Requirements: Admission follows two pathways, both requiring a minimum GPA of 76% (reduced to a 70% minimum specifically for the September 2026 intake). The direct pathway is first-year UBC coursework: 8.0 credits of Chemistry (CHEM 121 or 111 or 141, plus CHEM 123), 3.0 credits of Biology (BIOL 112), 3.0 credits of Differential Calculus, and 3.0 credits meeting the Communication Requirement (SCIE 113 recommended, or WRDS 150, or ENGL 110/111). The transfer pathway accepts two terms of first-year university Chemistry with lab plus one term each of first-year Biology, English and Mathematics (differential calculus) from another institution, at the same minimum GPA. Selection is competitive, with candidates ranked by academic achievement, and every accepted applicant must obtain a criminal record check as part of entrance. Application Deadline:BCIT publishes common credential application dates for most cohort-based diplomas, degrees and Flexible Learning routes, though each program's own page governs: for the January 2027 intake domestic applications run 1 February 2026 to 2 January 2027 and international to 1 November 2026; for the April 2027 intake domestic runs 1 May 2026 to 1 April 2027 and international to 1 February 2027; for September 2027 domestic applications open 1 October 2026 and close 1 September 2027, international 2 July 2027. Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
