Overview
The Automotive Collision Estimator Micro-credential combines customer handling and basic automotive collision knowledge skills toward perfecting collision repair estimates required in the industry to meet the needs of various stakeholders. The collision repair industry has recognized that repair estimating skills are changing with the introduction of battery electric vehicles and advanced driver-assistance technologies. Estimating software is also changing to meet the requirements of the changing automotive technologies—drastically enough that both new and upskilling professionals will benefit from the learning content which aims to meet the demands of insurance providers, business owners, and collision repair technicians.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: BCIT does not require formal application to this microcredential; applicants register directly for its two courses once the stated conditions are met. The first course, Introduction to Automotive Collision Estimating (ABOD 1202), carries no prerequisite; the second, Essentials of Automotive Collision Estimating (ABOD 1204), requires a minimum grade of 70% in ABOD 1202. Across its 9.0 total credits each course is delivered in a blended format and must be passed at 70% or higher, offered across BCIT's flexible-learning intakes. The page states no English-language test, interview, or portfolio requirement. This program is not available to international students.
