Overview

This micro-credential opens with Transport Canada regulations governing how small remotely piloted aircraft systems may be operated safely and legally, followed by a detailed look at site survey and mission planning. It then covers structure-from-motion photogrammetry image processing using colour, multi-spectral and thermal drone imagery, closing with practical examples spanning radiometric thermal orthomosaics, multi-spectral GIS analysis, and NDVI.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: BCIT requires no formal application to this microcredential and states no formal academic prerequisite for its four courses (XRPA 1100, 1200, 1500 and 1600). The page recommends diligence, engagement, motivation, curiosity and commitment as qualities needed for success, and requires access to a modern laptop or desktop computer less than two years old for the online sessions. The page states no English-language test score, minimum grade, interview, or portfolio requirement. Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
