Micro-credential in Web Development Foundations Micro-credential is a micro-credential in Software Engineering programme taught at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. This micro-credential is aimed at people with no prior coding background who want to hand-code websites and web pages. Industry experts introduce web scripting languages and tools, starting with HyperText Markup Language for creating documents that browsers can read, before learners practice building Cascading Style Sheets.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The only stated academic prerequisite for this micro-credential is completion of COMP 1002 or equivalent knowledge of PC file management. BCIT recommends, without requiring, English and math skills at Grade 12 level or equivalent and post-secondary education or work experience in business or computing; no minimum GPA or standardized English/French test score is published. Students must supply a current-model PC with an i5-equivalent or higher processor, at least 8 GB RAM, 256 GB of storage, and reliable high-speed internet for online sections and homework. In-person delivery is available to international applicants holding a valid BCIT study permit; online delivery is available to international applicants studying from outside Canada or holding valid Canadian status other than a study permit. There is no formal application; students register for the course and email the program contact with their name, student number and mailing address on completion.

Application Deadline:BCIT publishes common credential application dates for most cohort-based diplomas, degrees and Flexible Learning routes, though each program's own page governs: for the January 2027 intake domestic applications run 1 February 2026 to 2 January 2027 and international to 1 November 2026; for the April 2027 intake domestic runs 1 May 2026 to 1 April 2027 and international to 1 February 2027; for September 2027 domestic applications open 1 October 2026 and close 1 September 2027, international 2 July 2027. Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
