Overview
The Web and Mobile Application (WMA) Development Associate Certificate is aimed at existing object-oriented programmers who want to develop actual software applications that run on web sites and mobile devices. You'll learn to integrate open source tools with OOP language and use server-side development frameworks to produce dynamic web pages, applications and web services. You'll focus on JavaScript, Angular and Vue, Node.js, and React in conjunction with ASP.NET and PHP for developing advanced web applications. Electives include: Android Mobile Application Development, iOS Application Development, QA Testing and Docker. You wil be able to develop, test, and deploy industry-standard software applications that run on websites and mobile devices.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Web and Mobile Application Development Associate Certificate (part-time) requires prior software-development ability, met one of two ways: BCIT's Applied Software Development Associate Certificate plus working HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript skills, or equivalent post-secondary study covering application development in Java or C# and business analysis/systems design (COMP 3601 or 3602 plus COMP 2831); or, alternatively, working knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript equivalent to BCIT's COMP 1850 and COMP 2132. English proficiency sits in Category 2: English Studies 12 at 67% or equivalent, corresponding under BCIT's institute-wide policy to IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 5.5) or TOEFL iBT 4.5 with every section at least 3.5 (legacy 86) when a test is used in place of the course. No GPA, portfolio, or interview is stated. This program is not available to international students.
