BA/BS in Child and Youth Studies

Brock University's Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies, offered through the Department of Child and Youth Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences, is a multidisciplinary program examining young people within the contexts of society, development, culture, disability, the economy, law, family, school, peer groups, and community. The curriculum includes experiential learning, fieldwork placements, and guest lectures, and builds skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and advocacy for children and youth. Students can complete a three-year BA, a four-year BA with a major, or a four-year Honours degree, and a Concurrent Education option combines the four-year Honours BA with a Bachelor of Education. A minor in Child and Youth Studies is also available. The program prepares graduates for professional or academic careers in schools, hospitals, and community agencies, or for graduate study in fields such as social work, education, psychology, sociology, criminology, and cultural studies.
