Program details

Overview

Brock University's Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Earth and Planetary Science Communication, offered through the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, is a four-year program combining Earth Sciences with communications training, described by the university as the only program of its kind in Canada. Students take the same courses as Earth Sciences and Communications majors in the first two years before choosing courses in their areas of interest and joining collaborative projects in the senior years. Fourth-year communications courses address the environment and media, film and ecology, and data science, and students complete a supervised capstone project in a media format of their choice. The program prepares graduates to understand the science behind issues such as climate change, space exploration and planetary resources, and to communicate on them across roles in science policy, government, NGOs and private companies.
