International Economic Policy is a disciplinary specialization within Carleton University's Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS). The specialization gives students a general understanding of the economic forces invoked by government intervention, addressing economic globalization and international and public-sector economics through a relatively non-technical approach designed to let students from diverse academic backgrounds engage with policy challenges. Students must complete a second-language requirement, taken for example in Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or American Sign Language, and an international-experience requirement fulfilled through study abroad, internships, courses abroad or group projects. A co-op option is available. Sample courses include Global History and Introduction to Economic Development. Graduates are prepared for roles at central banks, government finance ministries, trade policy institutions and financial regulatory agencies, and in diplomacy, policy analysis, international development and government.

Advanced standing beyond first year is assessed on merit, requiring applicants to normally be Eligible to Continue in their year level and meet CGPA thresholds. Admission averages are determined each year on a program-by-program basis.
