Overview

This program leads to a Graduate Diploma in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton University, delivered in a hybrid format combining intensive summer institutes with online learning, aimed at working professionals across Canada. The full-time diploma runs two terms, with a part-time option over four terms, and complements the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, the first such degree offered in Canada. Coursework prepares graduates for roles as innovators and leaders in nonprofits, social enterprises, philanthropic foundations, development offices, and the governments, financial institutions, and businesses that interact with them. Faculty research addresses charity regulation, tax policy and transparency, place-based philanthropy and alternative financing models, impact and responsible investing, the social economy, and social enterprise, communications, and activism. Ottawa's concentration of national and international nonprofit organizations and professional associations, alongside ready access to government departments and agencies, supports career opportunities in the sector. The program begins in July.
