Program details
Overview
Languages is a two-year pre-university Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC), program code 500.AL, offered at Cégep de Lévis. The program provides instruction in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, combining language courses with cultural content drawn from art, history, cinema, literature, and daily life. Students develop oral and written communication skills, basic translation techniques between English and French, familiarity with technology tools used for writing, editing, and translation, and an understanding of the cultural differences associated with each language studied. The credential prepares graduates for university studies in languages, translation, or related fields. The program is delivered on campus, and an optional study-abroad component allows students to complete a session in Victoria or Seville. The program can also begin in the winter session, following a five-session course sequence instead of four.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) or an equivalent qualification. The program has no specific secondary-school course prerequisites, but applicants take a mandatory English placement test to determine the appropriate course level.
