Overview
Travail social is a three-year technical DEC. Training takes place partly in spaces designed to simulate a real living environment, including a living room, office, kitchen, and dining area, to give students practice in realistic intervention settings. Students complete one discovery-oriented placement per week in the first year, followed by two more intensive intervention placements of three to four days per week in the third year, and the college provides a $2,200 bursary to support students during the final internship. Coursework builds competencies in individual, family, group, and community intervention methods, active listening, crisis intervention, and advocacy for social rights, along with multidisciplinary teamwork skills. The program suits students who are attentive to human and collective circumstances and who want to work directly with people facing social difficulties, drawing on emotional regulation and observational skills.
