Overview
Arts, lettres et communication, option Cinema (DEC 500.AG), is a two-year, four-session pre-university program at Cegep de l'Outaouais on the Felix-Leclerc campus that combines general education with a cultural foundation preparing students for university study in languages, letters, education, communications and the arts. The cinema option suits students passionate about film as a form of artistic expression. Students meet professionals from Quebec's film and television industries, take part in film festivals and the Prix collegial du cinema quebecois, build a creative portfolio, and can compete for a production grant tied to a short-film project supervised by industry creators. Coursework covers art history, film language, cinematic techniques, narrative construction and editing, documentary form, film criticism and world literature, developing skills in scriptwriting, camera, sound and editing techniques, and critical analysis of documentary and fiction genres. It leads toward university programs in cinema and television, film studies, screenwriting, communication, audiovisual journalism, marketing and public relations, cultural programming, art history and teaching.

Admission Requirements: Cégep de l'Outaouais states no program-specific academic prerequisites for this option beyond its general admission conditions. Domestic candidates need a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES, youth or adult sector), or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) with langue d'enseignement de la 5e secondaire, langue seconde de la 5e secondaire and mathématiques de la 4e secondaire passed, or training the college judges equivalent, plus any Ministry or college particular conditions; applications go through admission.sram.qc.ca. International candidates outside Canada apply through SRAM as international candidates for Fall entry only, by 14 March, and must reach a Bright French test average of at least 3.7; those already in Canada on temporary status apply as regular SRAM candidates for Fall or Winter (Winter offering is more limited), with a recommended first-round deadline of 1 March for Fall or 1 November for Winter, and a Bright French average of at least 3.5. A French test is mandatory in every DEC program at this cégep, even for candidates schooled in French.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 March 2027, with later rounds around late April and late May while seats remain; Winter 2027 entry opened 15 September 2026, with an equal-consideration date of 1 November 2026 and a second round on 25 November 2026. Cégep de l'Outaouais accepts international applicants for the Fall intake only: the college's FAQ fixes the international deadline at 14 March of the admission year, i.e. 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, and it publishes no winter international deadline. Admission is rolling round to round within SRAM's system until each round's seats are filled, but the international date is firm. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
