Arts Visuels: Approche matière is a pre-university Diploma of College Studies (DEC, code 510.AM) at Cégep de l'Outaouais, completed over four sessions (two years) at Campus Félix-Leclerc with Fall-term intake only. It is one of two profiles within the Arts visuels program, sharing a common core that combines theory and practice in contemporary visual art with general education coursework. This profile centers on working directly with material and technique across drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography, building skills in observation, materials handling, and object- and image-based creation. Students study visual-art history and theory alongside studio practice, take part in cultural outings and travel opportunities, and exhibit their work. Across four sessions, coursework progresses from foundational drawing, sculpture, and photography courses toward an integrative creation project connecting personal artistic practice to contemporary and historical art. Admission Requirements: Admission is to the Fall term only, at Campus Félix-Leclerc, with uncapped enrollment (non contingenté); no specific subject prerequisites are published beyond the general CEGEP admission conditions. As with all Cégep de l'Outaouais DEC programmes, international applicants must pass a mandatory French-proficiency test: the Bright test (minimum average 3.7, or 3.5 for candidates already in Canada on temporary status), TCF tout public or TEF (band 500-599, CEFR C1), or DALF C1.
