Overview
Techniques de design d'interieur (DEC 570.E0) is a three-year, six-session technical diploma at Cegep de l'Outaouais on the Felix-Leclerc campus. Students learn to design and produce interior-layout plans that are aesthetic, functional and adapted to client needs, coordinating residential, commercial and public-space projects from concept through execution. Classroom instruction covers design elements and principles, artistic movements, design trends, creativity and ideation techniques, layout and comfort standards, and finishing and construction materials, while lab work develops skills in 2D computer-aided drafting, 3D modelling software, floor plans and elevations, visual presentation and material, furniture and finish selection. A project-based approach has students measure spaces, meet with and analyze client needs, plan layouts, develop design concepts, select materials and furnishings, produce architectural plans, estimate project costs and present finished work, culminating in a workplace internship. Graduates work at architecture firms, interior-design firms, public and government bodies, furniture and materials retailers, real-estate development, kitchen and bathroom manufacturers, construction companies or as self-employed designers, with DEC-BAC pathways into university design, industrial design and architecture programs.

Admission Requirements: Cégep de l'Outaouais states no program-specific academic prerequisites for this option beyond its general admission conditions. Domestic candidates need a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES, youth or adult sector), or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) with langue d'enseignement de la 5e secondaire, langue seconde de la 5e secondaire and mathématiques de la 4e secondaire passed, or training the college judges equivalent, plus any Ministry or college particular conditions; applications go through admission.sram.qc.ca. International candidates outside Canada apply through SRAM as international candidates for Fall entry only, by 14 March, and must reach a Bright French test average of at least 3.7; those already in Canada on temporary status apply as regular SRAM candidates for Fall or Winter (Winter offering is more limited), with a recommended first-round deadline of 1 March for Fall or 1 November for Winter, and a Bright French average of at least 3.5. A French test is mandatory in every DEC program at this cégep, even for candidates schooled in French.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 March 2027, with later rounds around late April and late May while seats remain; Winter 2027 entry opened 15 September 2026, with an equal-consideration date of 1 November 2026 and a second round on 25 November 2026. Cégep de l'Outaouais accepts international applicants for the Fall intake only: the college's FAQ fixes the international deadline at 14 March of the admission year, i.e. 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, and it publishes no winter international deadline. Admission is rolling round to round within SRAM's system until each round's seats are filled, but the international date is firm. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
